Job Title/Position Analysis Engineer (Power Electronics) Responsible To Head of Machine Performance Department Electrical Machines/Engineering/Machine Performance Hours of Work 37 Main Purpose Electromagnetic analysis and validation of motors and generators Location: Based at either Gateshead or London (Middlesex) Salary £40,000 Benefits My client is a medium/low volume manufacturer in the high-tech power electronics industry. They deliver power solutions for various industries including Aerospace, Energy, Defence and Transport. The company have secured significant orders and for next year and have been growing their staff this year to cope with demand. They envisage demand for their products to increase and see continued diversification into new markets. They design all products in-house have experienced engineering team to develop new products. Guaranteed orders of over £30mil secure for this year. Work with in the engineering department for a designer and manufacturer of high technology, high speed motor and generator systems. Work within an R&D environment to develop and implement electromagnetic analysis techniques for the prediction of motor and generator performance - either analytical or FEA including scripting. Work within a project environment to verify and validate the machine performance specifications; this includes recommendations to further improve performance. Produce machine performance data to support the bid/tender process and support the generation of specifications for motors and generators. Conceptually design and operate test rigs in order to validate the modelling methods. Standardise analysis methods and perform trade studies in order to obtain optimum solutions. Follow departmental and company quality processes (ISO 9001) Essential: Electrical Engineering Degree - 2:1 or higher Desirable: MEng, MSc or other post graduate qualification Essential: Electrical machine electromagnetic FEA analysis, development of analysis methods, test and validation experience. Desirable: Motor and/or generator analysis, power electronics simulation, CAD test rig design, high speed rotating machinery, data acquisition and instrumentation, hands on experience Essential: Infolytica MagNet (or equivalent), scripting (parametric FEA analysis), Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, report writing and presentation skills. Desirable: Speed PC-BDC, Infolytica MotorSolve BLDC, Excel VBA, VBS, Matlab/Simulink, NI Labview, CAD (Pro Engineer or equivalent) Analysis and validation background. Experience is desirable, however graduate engineers with a strong degree who can demonstrate skills in relevant areas will be considered.
