Bank prints newspaper adverts in Polish
A high street bank is printing newspaper advertisements in Polish to promote a special account for immigrants.
NatWest’s Welcome account was launched in January to cater for rising numbers of Polish immigrants following the expansion of the European Union.
The bank offers a Polish language telephone banking service and has Polish-speaking staff in some branches.
Staff say the Polish advertisements in British newspapers are the latest attempt to promote the account.
NatWest's move is the latest in a series of attempts to make life easier for Polish immigrants.
In March, Environment Agency officials put up signs at a country park in Wrexham, Denbighshire, written in English and Polish – but not in Welsh.
In February, Cheshire County Council put up road diversion signs in Polish.
One of NatWest’s newspaper advertisements appeared in today Cambridge News.
Last month police chiefs in Cambridgeshire asked for more Government cash to cope with problems posed by the immigration from eastern Europe.
One issue highlighted was the amount of money being spent on interpreters.
