Our client, based in Stanley (DH9), are a well-established plastics manufacturer. Specialising in the design and manufacture of innovative plastic packaging solutions for liquids, they are looking to add to their growing team.

We are looking to recruit a time served/ trained Assembly Technician.

Main Job Objective: To set up and maintain machines

The role includes the following main tasks:

  • To undertake handover at the beginning of each shift
  • Machine set ups
  • To maintain machines to a high standard
  • To perform machine changeovers
  • Undertake regular quality checks
  • Effective repair of equipment, tooling, machines and peripherals
  • To identify future preventative maintenance requirements
  • To identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • To undertake some mechanical repairs
  • Optimisation of machines and equipment to achieve continuous improvement
  • Support production to achieve 5 key data element targets
  • General house keeping
  • Operator duties will be expected on a daily basis

Knowledge and Qualifications
Experience of working with machinery in an engineering/manufacturing environment is essential.
Possess a good understanding of mechanical engineering.

Technical Skills

  • Technical fault finding is desirable
  • Able to read and understand drawings, measurements and weights
  • Ability to use measuring equipment
  • Able to complete technical reports at a basic level
  • Able to work to plans
  • Able to use machines and tools

Shift patterns are as follows:

3 Shifts; 10pm-6am, 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm with an early close on a Friday night.
