Black Belt Process Engineer

  • This position is responsible for managing the planning, facilitation, and completion of strategic, high impact projects to support plant objectives.
  • Responsible for implementing process improvement projects (DMAIC) Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control.
  • Supporting cross-functional teams within Engineering with an emphasis on final assembly process improvement & root cause analysis.
  • The Black Belt will adopt a range of methodologies to explore, identify and deliver performance improvements across engineering covering build, final assembly and testing.
  • At times you may also be involved in production improvement projects alongside customer interaction.
  • Help teams shape future proof processes that will enable our growth strategy, alongside ensuring we achieve the highest levels of quality, and operational efficiency with the responsibility for the training, project completion and certification of between 10-17 Green Belts.
  • Using your wide experience to train and coach teams in the DMAIC methodology, enabling ‘in-house’ development of process management capabilities and continuous improvement.
  • Presenting findings/project milestones to senior managers during operational reviews.

Person Specification of the Black Belt Process Engineer

  • Degree or HNC/HND in engineering (or similar).
  • Must have Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Circa 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in working in a modern high mix, high volume manufacturing environment, would be advantageous.
  • A background in either automotive or electronics would be advantageous.
  • Excellent knowledge of operational systems, reporting and management applications including statistical analysis (Minitab, Qstat or other similar statistical analysis tools).
  • Demonstrable delivery of Lean Six Sigma business improvement projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively at all levels and across a diverse mix of stakeholders.
  • Experience of delivering Lean Six Sigma training and providing post-course project coaching.
  • Self-starter with ability to challenge and drive progress across the project team resources.
  • Able to demonstrate self-reliance and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to adapt and adopt flexible business improvement approaches to drive the desired outcome.
