Description
Our client, an adaptable and multifaceted engineering firm based in Darlington are seeking a committed and suitably qualified Electrical Project Engineer to join their growing team. This is a great opportunity to be involved across a diverse product portfolio.
Location: Darlington, DL1
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: 37 hours per week | Monday – Friday | 08.30 AM – 04.30 PM
Variable Hours Scheme – Friday finish from 12.00 PM
The Role
To lead a specific work package in a project from detailed design through to implementation and commissioning to provide right-first-time project delivery
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare quotations from customer specifications in an efficient and timely manner.
- Responsible for providing accurate costings for materials and labour that will become a template for manufacture and budgets
- Work with customer designs to create a bill of materials for procurement department, managing and controlling safety, engineering, and quality in addition to good design and installation practice throughout the project lifecycle.
- Preparation of drawings including layout general arrangements and circuit diagrams
- Put in measures for production targets to be met during manufacture
- Working with the rest of the department to produce new bespoke designs, and improving existing designs
- See that new projects fit within our capabilities and standards
- Put steps in place to meet customer and the company’s timescales
- Close liaison with other departments, customers, and suppliers to manage project interfaces
- Responsible for contract costs to ensure they meet or beat specified estimated costs
- Responsible for meeting the delivery and quality performance targets and/or objectives set by customers
- To provide a project engineering function within the department, estimating, design, development, procurement, manufacture, test, installation, commissioning, financial management and ongoing support
- Responsible for health and safety, quality, and environmental performance of the department personnel both at the company premises and site working.
Essentially Requirements:
- A relevant HNC or equivalent
- Excellent IT skills including MS Office applications
- Experience of Autocad LT
- Considerable industrial experience
- Good communication skills
- Good organising and planning skills
- Flexible approach to hours
Desirable
- Relevant degree
- Knowledge of company product range
- Experience of working in the rail sector, specifically electrical distribution, low voltage switchgears, control panels
- Familiarity with BS7671:2018 18th Edition regulations
- Have an understanding of product development lifecycles, design and document change control
- Experience of managing a team
- Continuous improvement mindset and ways of working – 6S’s/Lean methodology
