Baltic Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Permanent Packed Goods Team Leader to work for a highly reputable client based in Newton Aycliffe. Responsible for organizing and motivating the team within the ‘Pack Goods’ area that will ensure they achieve the required efficiency and quality and delight their customers.

The postholder should ensure that all processes within the ‘Packed Goods’ area are carried out accurately and as efficiently while ensuring the machines are maintained to the highest possible standards as described within the relevant SOP(s). Facilitating change by promoting and enforcing continuous improvement activity within the team and provide support for other areas of production where necessary.

Packed Goods Team Leader Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that components are checked & packed: to the correct dimensions, with the correct characteristics i.e., range, handle type, colour and that fully consolidated orders are checked against the manifest to ensure accuracy to the customers specification
  • To monitor the level of weekly/monthly quality failures.
  • To manage and communicate work scheduling in the department.
  • To achieve a balance between the competing demands of continuous improvement activities and production requirements which respects their individual importance.
  • To ensure the team is deployed effectively to consistently meet the demands of the ‘Pack Goods’ area, and thus production schedules.
  • Identify skill gaps for any employees who may require the skills needed to operate in the ‘Pack Goods’ area and liaise with their respective supervisor to organise and deliver training.
  • Establish action plans and implement necessary training (ensuring that records are maintained)
  • To assist your team to ensure that they have a clean and safe working environment, i.e. equipment and plant are maintained.
  • That any defects or faults are identified, reported and remedial action is taken with minimum delay. To assist your team with controlling the supplies of consumables in order to prevent stock-outs.
  • To carry out monthly documentation audits in other parts of the factory as required (this will include, but not necessarily be confined to, SOP’s, H&S documents and QA documents).
  • Manage and maintain documents relating to your team’s time and attendance, work scheduling, overtime and holiday cover.
  • To hold monthly one-to-one meetings. Review all errors and mistakes within your team and issue improvement notices and action plans to address failures.
  • To hold daily briefings to set out daily goals and to communicate success etc.

Packed Goods Team Leader Applicants:

  • Have 2+ years’ experience of leading a team
  • Must be able to lift/maneuver large and heavy items
  • Be able to carry out close inspection work and the ability to differentiate accurately between materials
  • Have the ability to follow the requirements of Standard Operating Procedures and work with minimal supervision
  • The ability to prioritise workload in stressful situations
  • Ability to operate a PC
  • Ability to solve problems and make improvements to processes
  • Ability to locate the correct components in a busy and compact working environment
  • Ability to carry out risk assessments

Working Monday to Friday, 7.30am until 4pm.
