My client, a World leading Automotive supplier, are looking to appoint an experienced Quality Engineer.

Summary:

The Quality Engineer is an active and flexible role within the QAC department to help and support all employees on product knowledge and quality.

The role involves coordinating the team of quality technicians and inspectors on a day to day basis. Effective communication and detailed reporting skills are essential and it is a hands-on job role which requires the ability to use a variety of measuring techniques and equipment to generate accurate and concise reports.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and monitor the operation of the Quality Management System in accordance with company accreditation’s
  • QA team member in resolving non-conformance’s (including Customer, Supplier and Internal) – root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions.
  • Demonstrate a quick response to the customer concerns /issues and ensure documentation is completed within time frame
  • Maintain relevant project folders, including PQFs
  • Ensure PQFs are kept at the latest revision, are available for use on the shop floor and effectively rolled out into production, and as required provide support and training
  • Carry out audits as required – including internal audits, product & process audits, supplier audits
  • Report findings from audits and be responsible for closing out any non-conformance’s / issues raised
  • Be responsible for containment activities, communicate cut-off details and completion of paperwork
  • Attend and report at meetings on site and off site as required (Production meetings, Project launch meetings, etc)
  • Develop full knowledge of quality standards using customer supplied information, use this knowledge to transfer to work instructions which are easy to follow on the shop floor
  • Collate and be responsible for master and limits samples, keeping a status log
  • Responsible for Quality Technicians – training and mentoring
  • Assist in the training and development of Supervisors and Operators against known Quality standards, training to include fault recognition and completion of reject reporting
  • Quality documentation is detailed and revision status and change history is recorded (work instructions, packing instructions, etc)
  • Ensure quality alerts and incidents reports as required – chase sign off within 48 hours of raising issue
  • QA team member in compiling and submitting PPAP documentation
  • Set up and develop SPC as required
  • Monitor gauges and calibration status of equipment, ensure equipment is calibrated as required and maintain records
  • Be involved in the approval and monitor of suppliers
  • Give recommendations that may lead to improvement of the Quality Management System
  • Provide support throughout the company on quality related issues
  • Monitor costs that may be incurred due to quality related issues
  • Attend both internal and external training courses to continue adding to body of knowledge for company and individual personal development
  • Ensure QA display boards are kept up to date with relevant information
  • Understand the importance of quality and production performance, the cost of quality and working towards zero defects at the Customer
  • Maintain good level of housekeeping
  • Be approachable and promote good quality awareness, QA point of contact for the shop-floor
  • Deputise for the Quality Manager
  • Any other reasonable task as requested by Management

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the Health & Safety Officer to promote a safe working environment
  • Be responsible for your own health & safety at work and other employees
  • Ensure required PPE is worn at all times
  • Report all accidents to the Health & Safety Officer and record detail in accident book

Working hours and salary:

Day shift 40 hours per week

Salary between £28k and £35k per annum depending on experience.
