Baltic Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with Krystal Technology UK Ltd, a specialist manufacturer of high-purity fused quartz and fused silica components serving the semiconductor, photonics, industrial and scientific sectors, with their search for an experienced Quality Control Inspector.

Overall Purpose:

  • This role will carry out a range of inspection and quality control activities to support Production, Quality and EHS requirements, ensuring products and processes meet both internal standards and customer expectations.
  • Working closely with Production and the wider Quality team, you will complete quality control activities in a timely and accurate manner, provide support on quality-related matters and help ensure departmental targets are achieved.

Key Duties:

  • Carry out all Quality Control activities in accordance with Health, Safety, Environmental, 5S, ISO 9001 and internal company procedures.
  • Complete in-process and final inspections of manufactured products, ensuring compliance with specifications, customer requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Prepare and drill product samples for chemistry testing, ensuring accurate identification, handling and traceability throughout the process.
  • Accurately record, maintain and communicate Quality Control data using Sage X3, Excel and other approved systems, ensuring information is complete and available within required timescales.
  • Maintain excellent product traceability and accurate Quality Control records, including the identification and reporting of non-conforming products, quality concerns and process deviations.
  • Support Production and other departments with Quality Control queries, inspection requirements and day-to-day quality issues, escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Safely handle and move products as required, including loading oven beds using forklifts, lifting equipment or slings.
  • Ensure Quality Control tools, equipment and consumables are available, fit for purpose and maintained appropriately, including calibration, repair, replacement and stock replenishment.
  • Contribute to departmental KPIs, Quality meetings and continuous improvement activities, identifying opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and overall performance.
  • Work collaboratively across Quality, Production, Engineering, Maintenance and EHS, promoting high standards of Quality Control and best practice across the site.

Key Requirements:

  • Current Counterbalance and Reach Forklift Truck licences is preferred but not essential.
  • Slinging/lifting equipment training would be advantageous.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience within a Quality Control or inspection role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately and consistently in accordance with established procedures, specifications and quality standards.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate quality-related information clearly to colleagues and other departments.
  • Good numeracy skills, with the ability to interpret measurements, data and inspection results accurately.
  • Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience using Sage X3, or a similar ERP/business system, would be advantageous.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and work towards departmental KPIs.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative while maintaining appropriate Health & Safety standards.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to learn new skills, support continuous improvement and assist with the training of others.

The Package:

  • £32,000 per annum.
  • 24-7 shift operation. 5 days on, 3 days off including weekend work. Three 6AM-2:30PM shifts, followed by two 2PM-10:30PM shifts on rotation. May be requirements for additional night shift in the future.
  • 31 shifts Holiday per annum, inclusive of bank holidays.
  • Salary sacrifice pension scheme.
