Baltic Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with IPS Flow Systems, a leading supplier of Pipes, Valves, and Fittings across the UK and Ireland to assist with their search for an experienced Purchasing Manager.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong and experienced leader to take ownership of the purchasing function, drive performance, develop the team and play a key role in supporting the continued growth and success of the business.
Overall Purpose:
- The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading the purchasing function and ensuring the effective procurement of products for resale across the business.
- The role has direct responsibility for managing, developing and supporting a team of 4 Buyers, ensuring purchasing activity is commercially focused, appropriately controlled and aligned with the requirements of Sales, Operations, Finance, Quality and Sustainability.
- The Purchasing Manager will take ownership of supplier performance, commercial negotiations, product availability, inventory levels, purchasing costs and supply-chain risk. A key part of the role is balancing high levels of product availability and customer service with effective stockholding and working-capital management.
- The role will support the Strategic Management Team by providing clear purchasing analysis, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring that the purchasing function contributes positively to the company’s growth, profitability and strategic objectives.
- The Purchasing Manager will work closely with the Quality and Sustainability Manager to ensure suppliers and purchased products meet the company’s quality, compliance, environmental and sustainability requirements.

Key Requirements:
- Significant experience within purchasing, procurement or supply-chain management.
- Previous experience managing and developing a purchasing or buying team.
- Strong commercial negotiation experience.
- Demonstrable experience of supplier management and sourcing.
- Experience of managing inventory and balancing availability against stockholding.
- Strong analytical and numerical capability.
- Experience using ERP/purchasing systems and Microsoft Excel including creating dashboards.
- Ability to work effectively with the Strategic Management Team and across different business functions.
- Experience working collaboratively with quality, compliance or similar functions on supplier-related matters.
The Package:
- Extremely competitive salary on offer, depending on experience.
- 20 days basic holiday, plus birthday holiday & gifted 2-3 holidays to use over Christmas. Also able to purchase 5 extra days per year.

- Monday to Friday 8:30AM – 5:00PM (some flexibility).
