Yard Operative / FLT Driver

Location: Birtley
Shift Pattern: Rotating 2-Shift Pattern (B1)
Training Provided: Straddle Carrier Training

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative / FLT Driver to join our team in Birtley. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with forklift truck experience who is keen to develop new skills, including training to operate a Straddle Carrier.

Working as part of a busy logistics and yard operation, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth movement of materials, containers, and equipment across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and 5S across the yard area.
• Clearing empty stillages from production line doors.
• Collapsing, stacking, and removing stillages and waste packaging.
• Preparing backloads of empty stillages to suppliers, including scanning and photographing loads.
• Loading containers safely and efficiently.
• Unloading and loading containers from vehicles.
• Completing operational paperwork accurately for the administration team to prepare consignment documentation.
• Supporting the day-to-day running of a busy outdoor yard operation.

What We’re Looking For

• Valid B1 Forklift Truck Licence.
• Previous experience operating a forklift in a yard, manufacturing, logistics, or warehouse environment.
• Ability to work safely in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
• Good attention to detail and ability to complete paperwork accurately.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
• Flexibility to work a rotating 2-shift pattern.
